Pottery is being created for the Latino Folk Art Garden this weekend and the community can pitch in.

Community members can come together to make and paint six large clay pots at the Carbondale Clay Center Friday through Sunday.   After they are installed, the pots will be planted with herbs and vegetables for visitors.   Carlos Ulloa Jaquez, a volunteer coordinator for the garden, said the community art contribution is meant to give people a sense of pride. "The pots that we do might not be perfect-looking, but it’s a way to give ownership to anyone who is willing to be involved.”  The Latino Folk Art Garden is set to open in May.  This is one of three parks along the Rio Grande ARTWay, a one-mile stretch of the Rio Grande Trail running through Carbondale.  The clay pots will be made Friday through Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. each day.
