Creative district candidate excited about new housing program

Carbondale’s effort to become a creative district could give it access to a new state-sponsored housing program.

On Monday, Governor John Hickenlooper announced a plan to develop affordable housing and work space for artists and arts organizations. ‘Space to Create, Colorado’ allows towns designated as creative districts to be considered for these state-funded facilities.

Amy Kimberly of the Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities says she’s glad the state is looking into providing space for artists.

“I’ve been really looking for a forward-thinking developer that could see the possibility and advantages of having affordable artist living spaces and artists work spaces… ”
