Eagle County Explores Possible Childcare Ballot Question

Eagle County might ask voters this fall to approve a tax for childcare.

The county is losing young families, according Commissioner Jeanne McQueeney.

"Sometime in [people's] early 30s, we have a mass exodus. It’s about the affordability of your childcare and your housing," McQueeney said.

The county commissioned a poll to see how much voters know about the lack of childcare, and how it affects working families.

According to McQueeney, the poll is also designed to gauge voters’ sensitivity to a tax. The poll's results will be presented to the commissioners in the coming weeks.
