Eagle County extends temporary development restrictions

Eagle County

On Tuesday, the Eagle County Commissioners approved a two-month extension to the existing zone change moratorium.

Those who own five or more acres in the Roaring Fork Valley’s sliver of Eagle County haven’t been able to apply for a zone change since the fall. This will continue into the summer.

The extension will allow the Roaring Fork Valley Regional Planning commission more time to mull over changes to the Master Plan.

Commissioner Jill Ryan said getting the Master Plan right is important.

"We want to make sure the community likes the plan, believes in the plan, because a Master Plan is really the community’s vision," Ryan said.

The planning commission meets Thursday at the Eagle County Community Center in El Jebel. They’ll review refinements to the plan and future land-use maps.
