Eagle County’s open space program is asking for continued support this election. The program is funded through 2025; ballot measure 1A asks voters to extend the property tax through 2040.
The Roaring Fork Valley representative on the open space advisory committee, Bob Schultz, said the extension now would allow for long-range planning. The county is focused on acquiring new properties that provide access to rivers and other public lands, and securing conservation easements to protect local agriculture.
Eagle County’s open space program has helped conserve 1,600 acres in the Roaring Fork Valley, including properties in Emma and at Glassier Open Space.
