Glenwood Springs gears up for Tuesday’s election

Aspen Public Radio

On Tuesday, Glenwood Springs voters will decide on three seats for City Council and two questions regarding taxes on marijuana.

Voters will choose an at-large City Council member. Residents in Wards 2 and 5, which are at the northern and southern tips of the city, respectively, will also elect representatives.

Roughly 5,000 ballots were sent out earlier in March. As of Friday afternoon, around 1,200 had been returned; ballots need to be in to City Hall by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4.

Rick Voorhees is running unopposed for the Ward 2 seat. Ward 5 voters will choose between Amber Wissing, Don Gillespie and Jonathan Godes. Sarah Gordon is on the ballot, but dropped out, so any votes for her will not be counted.

The at-large candidates are Jonathan Gorst, Charlie Willman, Shelley Kaup and Rick Davis.
