Glenwood Springs’ new Grand Avenue Bridge opened a year and a half ago. At the beginning of 2019, crews began remodeling the 27th Street Bridge.

Now, it’s time to start talking about the South Bridge Project.

The new South Bridge will cross the Roaring Fork River adjacent to the airport, giving residents in South Glenwood and along 4 Mile Road easier access to Highway 82.

This is especially important in the event of an emergency, like the 2002 Coal Seam Fire, which forced thousands of residents to evacuate.

Glenwood Springs is hosting a meeting for the South Bridge project from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Sopris Elementary.

The public is invited to attend and comment on the final design and construction timeframe.
