A fire closed I-70 Wednesday afternoon near Glenwood Springs. The highway should be reopened in both directions around 5:30 p.m.
The lastest update from the Garfield County Sherriff's Office states that the efforts of the local firefighters have allowed reasonable control of the existing fire area and have stopped the previous spread. Operations will continue into the night to minimize the possibility of any flare-ups.
Pre-evacuation notices have been lifted for Amy's Acres and Mitchell Creek neighberhoods.
