Presidents Day weekend marks one of the busiest on the calendar for Roaring Fork Valley hotels, and this year is no exception.

The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association says the long weekend lines up with Valentine’s Day and attracts Front Range visitors looking for a romantic getaway. Lisa Langer, the chamber’s director of tourism promotion, says she heard from about nine hotels that plan to be at or near capacity for part of the weekend.

“Just about everyone was completely full for Friday and Saturday night,” Langer said, “and then they were anywhere from 65 to 85% full for Sunday.”

She added that this weekend ranks among the busiest for tourism in Glenwood Springs.

“This weekend is definitely comparable to other weekends such as the Christmas Holiday and the Thanksgiving Holiday,” Langer said.

Aspen hotels are also expecting a high volume of visitors. An Aspen Chamber report from Jan. 31 shows hotels booked at just below 90% capacity this weekend, which is higher than Christmas week and comparable to the same time last year.

Eliza Voss, the chamber’s director of marketing, says they expect those numbers to “catch up or surpass last year” due to late bookings and recent snow conditions.

“Particularly with new pass products on the market,” Voss said, “people have the freedom to make decisions on where they want to go based on where they see the snow.”
