ICE surge reaches Roaring Fork Valley

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is the federal agency in charge of enforcing immigration law. It’s been active in the Roaring Fork Valley over the past several days.

On Tuesday, ICE made an arrest in Glenwood Springs. The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed ICE agents were “active” in El Jebel early this week, but no arrests were made.

This activity is part of a nationwide surge. Officials are targeting undocumented teenagers suspected of having gang ties, as well as families and adults who entered the U.S. as children.

ICE claims all individuals it’s targeting have been “issued a final order of removal by a federal immigration judge.”
