The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts gathered over 1000 signatures to show support for a request to allow the group to move into an empty library space in downtown.
Multiple groups are vying for the space including at one point, the Frontier Historical Society.
The society’s executive director Bill Kight said at a city council meeting last week that he had retracted his proposal.
“I support the art council in using that facility on a permanent basis,” said Kight. “I don’t think you could find a better group to use it. I’d hate to see it empty again.”
Glenwood city council is looking at all other options for finding a tenant for library.
