Mountain Edition - October 15, 2015

Good afternoon, it’s Mountain Edition.

A developer behind a campaign in Aspen is infusing tens of thousands of dollars into an effort to build a hotel.

Base2 lodge is at the center of a ballot question. It was the theme of an Aspen Public Radio town hall meeting this week.

Voters in Snowmass Village recall a councilman who went to jail for drunk driving.

The fire departments in Carbondale and Basalt are asking voters for money in the fall election.

Construction on a new school in Carbondale is nearing completion.

And, an Aspen Skiing Company executive is named to a statewide committee for outdoor recreation.

Finally, Pitkin County staff will be displaced ahead of a major construction project.

Patrick Fort grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, nurturing a love for ice hockey and deli sandwiches. After moving to Colorado in 2010 to attend the University of Colorado to study music, Patrick discovered his love for journalism. In 2013, Patrick created and hosted the award-winning radio program Colorado Stories, a news program that covered CU and the surrounding community. An avid mountain and road cyclist, Patrick also referees youth ice hockey. He loves '60s pop bands and and trying new recipes ranging from milk-braised carnitas to flourless cakes.
