New Aspen City Manager Sara Ott Says First, She'll Listen To Community

After a five-month search, Sara Ott was named the new city manager.

Ott was the top choice out of a field of 64 candidates.

She first came to work for the City of Aspen in 2017 as the assistant city manager to her predecessor Steve Barwick. Once he was asked to resign in January after 19 years in the position, Ott was tapped as interim city manager.

After months of interviews with the city, Aspen City Council approved Ott's contract on Tuesday to become the new Aspen City Manager.

Aspen Public Radio talked to Ott about the multiple transitions between positions she has made, new plans and ideas for the future and why she wanted to work for the City of Aspen.
