People flocked to the Aspen District Theatre this weekend to see the opening performances of Aspen Community Theater’s rendition of Beauty and the Beast.
Crowds were estimated to be around 90 percent, and shows for next weekend are expected to be sold out.
Rita Hunter is a board member and producer for Aspen Community Theater, and says the performances were enjoyed by cast and the audience. A group of children who attended the Sunday show dressed as characters from the show, and were given a behind-the-scenes tour.
"They got to meet the characters, and they were just so thrilled," said Hunter. "Got a few signatures, autographs."
The show closes on Sunday.
