“postlandscape” opens at Aspen Chapel Gallery

The Aspen Chapel Gallery opens its latest show today.

The show is called “postlandscape”. What you see at the show isn’t just blobs of color that are incoherent or nondescript. They are landscapes. But of course, with the postmodern title, they are more than that.

David Warner is the curator of the show. He says people sometimes take landscapes for granted. Adding another layer meaning makes people stop and pause.

“How do you create a landscape within a post-modernist critique?" Warner says. "How do you take it beyond being purely aesthetic, or alluring or beautiful.”

The show features work that forces viewers to challenge their notions of what a landscape is and how it is perceived.

“postlandscape” runs through March 13.
