Red Flag Warnings Mean Fire Restrictions In Eagle County

Eagle County has decided that fire restrictions will be automatically triggered anytime there’s a Red Flag Warning in the area.

The National Weather Service issues Red Flag warnings when low humidity and strong winds form ideal conditions for wildfires.

During those warnings, Eagle County will now have automatic bans on open fires, charcoal grills and things like fireworks and tracer bullets.  In the past, the Eagle County Sheriff would have to announce restrictions.

The sheriff, however, can declare restrictions any other time fire danger is high.

Violations carry fines of up to $1,000.
