Regional Housing Study Complete

Garfield County Housing Authority

A regional housing study for the area from Aspen to Glenwood Springs and Edwards to Parachute is complete.

Local governments together funded the study, which is meant to gather concrete data on the housing problems the region faces.

Few who live here would be surprised at many of the report’s findings: The economy is strong, which creates demand for housing. Second homeowners and short-term rentals, like Airbnb, chip away at the already limited supply.

The report also spells out what growth will look like in the Greater Roaring Fork Valley. Between 2001 and 2017, the region grew by 28,000 people. Over the next decade, it’s projected to grow by 24,000 people.

In the coming weeks, the consultants who compiled the report will present to the local governments that commissioned it.
