RFTA Improvements Could Start In 2019

Roaring Fork Transit Authority

Voters from Aspen to New Castle narrowly passed a property tax to help fund the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA).

Dan Blankenship, RFTA’s CEO, said a weekly BRT service could operate year-round starting in the spring of 2019. Currently, in the off-seasons, the express service only operates Monday through Friday.

Blankenship said the passage of 7A also ensures RFTA will be able to provide ongoing maintenance for the Rio Grande Trail.

He said property owners will see the RFTA tax on their bills sometime at the beginning of 2019.
