The Roaring Fork Valley Complete Count Committee meets for the first time Wednesday at the Carbondale Library.
The group’s goal is to reach hard-to-count populations for the 2020 Census, like the elderly, non-English speakers, seasonal workers and rural residents.
Each resident represents about $2,300 in federal funding for towns and school districts. Census data also informs congressional districts.
Aspen’s Long-Range Planner, Philip Supino, heads the committee, which includes valley non-profits and public officials.
The census is in April of 2020.
