Roaring Fork School District Takes On Vaping

Young people are “vaping,” or smoking e-cigarettes, at alarming rates around the country. Coloradoyouth are vaping nicotine at twice the national average.

The Roaring Fork School District is teaming up with Pitkin, Eagle, and Garfield counties to raise awareness about vaping. This spring, prevention specialists will host sessions for parents about vaping.

Staff at the school district also will have access to online training that focuses on vaping. The county public health departments plan to put banners on RFTA buses to raise awareness.

A study last year suggested more than half of high school students in the Roaring Fork Schools report having tried vaping nicotine.
