Ski season comes to a close

Aspen Skiing Company/Dan Bayer

Skiers and snowboarders said goodbye to Aspen Mountain yesterday for the 2015/2016 season.

After 151 days of open terrain on at least one of Aspen Skiing Company’s four mountains. Many of the season pass holders in town made some big accomplishments.

A highly coveted medallion, the 100 day pin is given out to the skiers and snowboarders at the conclusion of the season who have gotten their scan passed at least that many times. For the 2015/2016 season, more than 283 skiers and snowboarders received their 100 day pins. The youngest is 13 and the oldest is 85. Just two people are reported as skiing every single day this season-a total of 151.

Everyone in town got a last minute treat this weekend with more than a foot of snow falling. Although Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk and Snowmass are now officially closed, Highlands will open up for two extra weekends starting this Saturday.

And, good news for fans of Lift 1A, you will get to ride the two person lift again next season.
