SkiCo already promoting World Cup Finals

Ryer Gardenswartz

Aspen Snowmass looks to make a statement and get back on the international skiing map with the 2017 World Cup FInals.

The Aspen Skiing Company hosted its annual gathering with the chamber of commerce yesterday to discuss downhill skiing’s biggest event.

The talk featured past world cup skiers Christin Cooper and Bill Marolt, current World Cup skier MikaelaShiffrin and retired US ski coach Bob Beattie. John Rigney, the Vice President of Sales and Events for SkiCo, recognizes that it has been a while since Aspen has hosted such a major event.

“It’s been almost 10 years since we had a speed event here,” Rigney said. “It's been 15 years since we’ve hosted the men, and it's been 20 years since we’ve raced down Aztec. It will be the return of America’s downhill.”

The races will be held from March 13th to the 19th on Aspen Mountain.
