Snowmass Arts Advisory Board Narrows Field For Town Park Project

Snowmass Village is one step closer to a new public art installation near the town’s entrance.

Nearly 80 artists submitted applications for the project, which will ultimately be installed by Town Park Station. The Snowmass Arts Advisory Board narrowed the field to three finalists. Arts board chairperson Linda Rennick says none of the selected artists are local.

She says the arts board is looking for a piece that will instill a sense of excitement in the town’s visitors.

"It’s the first thing you’re going to see when you drive up Brush Creek Road, and we want that feeling when you come in. 'Welcome to Snowmass. This is going to be a fabulous week that you’re going to spend here,'” she said.

All three finalists will receive a $750 honorarium to design their potential piece in the next six weeks; the arts advisory board will recommend one project to town council on May 29.
