Sunrise Court Fire Updates

Glenwood Springs Fire Department

Update - 11:30 a.m.

Glenwood Springs Fire Department said the Sunrise Court Fire burned 19.7 acres Wednesday. Cool temperatures throughout late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning helped cool the fire. 

Throughout Thursday, crews continue to monitor the burn area. Officials said most resources will be off the fire by Thursday evening, but crews will still work through Friday morning.

The cause is still unknown. Garfield County Fire Investigation Response Team is investigating.

Update - 7:00 a.m.

The Glenwood Springs Fire Department said as of 7 a.m. Thursday morning, the Sunrise Court Fire is contained.  

Update - 7:30 p.m.

The Glenwood Springs Fire Department announced the evacuation order for homes in Sunrise Court and Red Cliff Road has been lifted. Only residents will be allowed in the subdivision. 

Original Story 

The Glenwood Springs Fire Department says residences on Sunrise Court and Red Cliff Road are being evacuated because of a wildland fire that broke out near there Wednesday afternoon.

 

The Four Mile Ranch subdivision and lower Four Mile houses are being evacuated. All residents are being told to evacuate to the former Safeway parking lot at 2001 Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs.

Air tankers are in route from Grand Junction to help deal with the fire, which has been named the "Sunrise Court Fire.".

Glenwood Springs Fire Department, Colorado River Fire Rescue, Carbondale Fire Department, and local law enforcement agencies are all on scene.

The fire has been named the “Sunrise Court Fire.”
