Garfield County Encouraging People To Get Tested After Labor Day Weekend

Wednesday, September 9 - Garfield County Public Health is emphasizing the need for people with one or more COVID-19 symptoms to seek testing as soon as possible. In a release, the county said many people traveled or were exposed to visitors over the long holiday weekend.

The county said people returning from travel or visits with others may consider voluntarily minimizing contact with friends, family or co-workers in case they develop symptoms. The county's "Coronameter" is currently at the "comfortable" level, the lowest of categories of concern.

Governor Polis Extends COVID-Related Executive Orders

Monday, September 7 - Governor Jared Polis extended and amended three executive orders today. The governor's amended order included an extension of changes to the 2020 election process by temporarily suspending the requirment for any notarization or handwritten signature in any rules, regulations or forms having to do with the certification or acceptance of nomination, selection or appointment in elections. The change is aimed at limiting in-person contact during elections between candidates and the Secretary of State. Gov. Polis also extended the Protect Our Neighbors executive order, which allows individual communities to create their own public health plans within statewide guidelines for stemming the spread of COVID-19. He also extended an executive order that waives certain regulations regarding juvenile justice, regional centers and behavior health due to the virus.
