Week In The Arts: April 15 - 21, 2019

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

A class on making and storing your own fermented veggies takes place Monday at 6 p.m. at the Carbondale Rec Center.

Tuesday, the class “Pollinator Habitat” explores local pollinators, like bees and butterflies, and how to sustain them. It begins at 6 p.m. at the Carbondale Library.

On Wednesday, author and adventurer Jon Waterman presents “Chasing Denali” at the Pitkin County Library.  Waterman will show videos and tell stories about mountaineering on North America’s highest peak. The event begins at 6 p.m.

The second annual Compassion Fest presents a screening of the movie "Wonder" on Thursday. It’s the story of a young boy with facial differences, and his experiences as he attends elementary school for the first time as a fifth grader. The film begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Third Street Center.

Also Thursday, The Band Perry takes the stage at the Belly Up, along with opener Dream Chief.  Doors open at 9 p.m.

Folksinger Joan Osborne covers the songs of Bob Dylan at the Temporary on Friday.  Doors open at 8 p.m.

Also Friday, reggae band Steel Pulse plays the Belly Up.  Doors open at 9 p.m.

 

Sunday, Aspen Mountain throws an 80’s-themed closing day party at the Sundeck, which includes tunes from local DJs and a costume contest.
