Week In The Arts: Dec. 17 - 23, 2018

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

On Tuesday, Anderson Ranch Arts Center holds a Holiday Open House. The event includes studio tours, an exhibition opening, children’s art activities and a holiday dinner.The evening begins at 4:30 p.m.

On Thursday, two new exhibits open at the Aspen Art Museum -- Robert Montgomery’s LED sculpture “Searock Songlines” in the Roof Deck Sculpture Garden and “Zombies Pay Attention,” which looks at the notion of the living dead within contemporary culture. An opening reception begins at 5:30 p.m.

Marble Distillery honors local firefighters with its “Fire & Ice” fundraiser at its Carbondale Distillery on Friday.  Two new specialty vodkas will be launched, and firefighters and trucks will be onsite. The benefit starts at 6 p.m.

Friday through Sunday, Thunder River Theatre Company in Carbondale holds a family friendly winter cabaret, "Home for the Holidays." The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

Carbondale Arts holds a Pop-Up Holiday Bakery at the Launchpad this weekend. Holiday treats will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday.  

 

On Saturday, the Pitkin County Library screens the film “Last Detail,” starring an Oscar-nominated performance by Jack Nicholson. The film starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Aspen Laugh Festival presents Melissa Villaseñor at the Wheeler on Sunday. Villaseñor is the first Latina cast member of Saturday Night Live. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
