Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.
Tuesday, Aspen Words presents authors Elaine Pagels and Kate Bowler as a part of the Winter Words series. The event starts at 6 p.m at Paepcke Auditorium.
Tuesday and Wednesday, actress Becky Stone portrays poet and writer Maya Angelou in a one-woman performance in honor of Black History Month. The event takes place at CMC Spring Valley on Tuesday and CMC Rifle on Wednesday. Both performances begin at 4 p.m.
Wednesday, the Aspen Art Museum hosts a Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon. Community members can add entries on female figures in the art world to the online encyclopedia. The event starts at 11 a.m.
Pianist Marc-André Hamelin performs for the Aspen Music Festival and School’s Winter Concert series on Thursday. The recital starts at 6:30 p.m. at Harris Concert Hall.
Friday, the “Game of Stones” curling series takes place at Snowmass’ Base Village Ice Rink. Teams of two compete in a head to head elimination tournament. The competition is open to anyone, and starts at 3 p.m.
Saturday is “Viva Kid Flicks” at the Temporary. The event features award-winning short films from the New York International Children’s Film Festival. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
Also Saturday, ACES and the Aspen Art Museum host a "Community Warm-Up" at Hallam Lake. Attendees can go on guided nature walks and make crafts. The event starts at 1 p.m.
Sunday is Arte en Español at the Aspen Art Museum, an afternoon of activities, including guided tours and art-making, entirely in Spanish. The event starts at 3 p.m.
