Week In The Arts: Feb. 4 - 11, 2019

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

 

 

The first Roaring Fork Restaurant Week begins Monday and runs through Sunday. Restaurants in Basalt, Carbondale and Glenwood feature prix fixe dining specials.

Tuesday, Theater Masters present the Take Ten Aspen Play Lab at the Temporary.  Area high school students perform original, 10-minute plays. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The mixed-media show “Mutual Makers” opens at CMC Aspen on Wednesday. Collaborative and paired works from more than 30 artists will be on display.  An opening reception begins at 5 p.m.

Violinist Jennifer Koh and pianist Shai Wosner perform at Harris Concert Hall on Thursday.  It’s a part of the Aspen Music Festival and School winter recital series. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m.  

Also Thursday, author Thomas Sherwood speaks about and signs copies of his novel “Mourning in Their Tribe” at Explore Booksellers. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

Basalt-based sculptor Amanda Ramsay’s solo exhibition “For[u]m” opens Friday at the Art Base in Basalt.  An opening reception begins at 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, Carbondale Arts holds a Lip Sync Battle at Batch in downtown Carbondale. There are spots for 20 teams to compete and prizes for winners. The lip-syncing begins at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday, musician Jackson Emmer holds a songwriting workshop at the Launchpad. Emmer will cover topics like building a songwriting practice and how to make songs unique.  The workshop begins at 9:30 a.m.
