Week In The Arts: Jan. 14 - 20, 2019

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

“History on Tap” from the Aspen Historical Society will look at Lift One’s past on Tuesday. The program includes a film screening and stories about Aspen’s first chairlift. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Hotel Jerome ballroom.

Wednesday is "Fashion and Art Night Out" in Aspen for Gay Ski Week. Shops and galleries around town stay open late for the event, which starts at 6 p.m.

The Aspen Art Museum screens the classic zombie film “Day of the Dead” on Wednesday as a part of their “Movies at the Museum” series. The event begins at 5:15 p.m.

Thursday is Date Night at the Collective at Snowmass Base Village. Anderson Ranch will lead an art project for couples, singles and friends starting at 6 p.m.

Explore Booksellers hosts "Pajama Story Time" on Friday.  Young readers can wear comfy attire and read the children’s book "Zaza and Her Sea Friends" by local author Celia Gregory Dupps. The event starts at 6 p.m.

5Point Adventure Film Festival comes to Aspen on Friday and Saturday. The festival features programs of ski, snowboarding and adventure short films at the Wheeler Opera House.

Saturday, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet presents Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, an all-male dance troupe that parodies dance classics like Swan Lake while in drag. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Aspen District Theatre.

 

The marching-band-slash-funk-group MarchFourth plays the Temporary on Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m.
