Explore Booksellers hosts Colorado author Bill Penoyar on Monday. He’ll discuss his novel “Surviving Dreamland: Escape from Terror.” Penoyar is a former US foreign service officer. His novel looks at the events leading up to Operation Iraqi Freedom in the early 2000s. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Anderson Ranch hosts a Drawing Jam at the Collective in Snowmass’ Base Village. Over 30 artists from the Roaring Fork Valley will create original works of art in live drawing sessions. The event starts at 4 p.m.
The Aspen Art Museum screens “Warm Bodies” as a part of their Zombie Movie Survival Club series on Wednesday. The film starts at 5:15 p.m.
Thursday, environmental filmmaker James Balog’s documentary “The Human Element” will be screened at the Temporary. It will be followed by a conversation with the film’s producer, Olivia Ahnemann. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Friday, the Wheeler International Ocean Film Tour returns to the Wheeler Opera House. The event features short films about ocean adventures and the environment. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.
Also Friday, Consensual Improv takes the stage at Carbondale’s Thunder River Theatre. The group performs improv comedy games with help from the audience. The show begins at 8 p.m.
Electronica jam band STS9 performs at the Belly Up Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, Denver-based band DeVotchKa takes the stage at the Temporary. Doors open at 7 p.m.
