Week in the Arts - March 28th

Michael Franti and Spearhead start of the week with a show at the Belly Up. The singer has brought us hits like “Sound of Sunshine”. He is touring in support of his latest album.

 

Rocky Mountain Stomp plays at the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue on Wednesday.

 

Los Lonely Boys play at the Wheeler Opera House on Tuesday. The group has been going strong after their breakout hit, “Heaven”.

 

The group Under the Streetlamp plays the Wheeler on Thursday. The group includes members of the touring cast of the musical, “Jersey Boys”. They perform classic songs from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.

 

The folk duo, Hungrytown, plays at the Basalt Regional Library on Thursday.

 

The Aspen Art Museum is holding a “crit session” on Friday for local artists to learn how to critique art by seeing other’s work.

 

Warren Haynes and the Ashes and Dust Band plays the Belly Up on Saturday. It is a make good to his cancelled show from a few months ago.

 

The Roaring Fork Beer Company is celebrating its second birthday with brunch and dinner on Saturday. The event includes a special beer brewed with chamomile, lemongrass and orange peel.

Patrick Fort grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, nurturing a love for ice hockey and deli sandwiches. After moving to Colorado in 2010 to attend the University of Colorado to study music, Patrick discovered his love for journalism. In 2013, Patrick created and hosted the award-winning radio program Colorado Stories, a news program that covered CU and the surrounding community. An avid mountain and road cyclist, Patrick also referees youth ice hockey. He loves '60s pop bands and and trying new recipes ranging from milk-braised carnitas to flourless cakes.
