Week In The Arts: May 28 - June 3

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley.  This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

 

Monday, alt-country musician Nicki Bluhm takes the stage at the Belly Up. Meadow Mountain opens. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Marble Distillery in Carbondale throws itself a third birthday party on Tuesday with "The Big Lebowski Night." Costumes are encouraged and movie trivia starts at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, a mixed-media show featuring local artists called “New Perspectives” opens at the Aspen Chapel Gallery. There’s an artist reception from 5 to 7 p.m.

Three new exhibits open at the Aspen Art Museum on Thursday. The opening reception starts at 5:30 p.m. and includes music, artmaking and tours of the galleries.  

On Friday, the Carbondale Clay Center presents national ceramic artist Tom Jaszczak’s solo exhibition “Minimal: Less is More.” The opening reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Glenwood Park will be renamed in honor of longtime local Tom Sullivan. The newly built Sullivan Park sign will be unveiled at 11:30 a.m., followed by the Defiance Rugby Club’s 2nd Annual Sullivan’s Showdown. The event will feature a friendly rugby match, family-friendly activities and a food truck.

 

Also Saturday, a “Tiny Art Workshop” called “The Devil Is In The Details” will be held in Carbondale. Participants will learn how to carve and print their own tiny works of art. The workshop starts at 10 a.m. at max.ink inside S.A.W. studios.
