Week in the Arts - November 9th

  This is The Week in the Arts, an abbreviated list of the events and happenings going on in the valley in the coming days.

On Tuesday, the opening reception for Betsy Chaffin’s show, From There to Here, will start at 5 at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass.

 

Akira Kurosawa’s classic, “The Seven Samurai” will be screened at the Basalt Regional Library. The tale of a group of samurai who protect a down-on-its-luck town from bandits.

 

Wednesday at the Red Brick in Aspen, Fall for Art continues for kids interested in making art. This fall’s theme is “Under the Sea”, featuring mermaids and sharks. Registration is available online.

 

Friday at the Belly Up, Dead Floyd plays at 10 p.m.. The Grateful Dead/Pink Floyd mashup/cover/tribute band mixes the spacey weird vibes of Floyd and the jam elements of the Grateful Dead.  

 

On Saturday at the Glenwood Vaudeville Theater, local bluegrass music night brings three local bands, The Smuggler Mountain Boys, The Defiance String Band and Woody Belly in to play one show under roof.

 

Winterfest, the arts and crafts show from the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts opens at the Center.
