Week In The Arts: Oct. 15 - 21

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

Monday, the Temporary screens “Gauguin: Voyage To Tahiti.” It’s a part of their "Dance, Art, & Music" film series. The movie begins at 8 p.m.

Aspen Words’ current Writer in Residence is poet Yolanda Wisher. She speaks and reads her work at Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar in Aspen on Tuesday. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

A new exhibit called “Man’s Best Friend” opens at the Aspen Chapel Gallery on Wednesday. The show is presented in partnership with the Aspen Animal Shelter. An artists’ reception begins at 5 p.m.  

Thursday, storytelling event "Our Response" is at the Wheeler Opera House. Five survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault will share their stories. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.  

Friday, Glenwood Arts Council presents "The Art of Food + Drink." The culinary festival includes food from Glenwood restaurants and music by Valle Musico. The festival starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Hotel Colorado.

Dance Initiative's annual Spectrum Dance Festival is at the Launchpad in Carbondale on Saturday. There will be a series of classes on African, jazz and modern dance. Current artists in residence UNA Projects will also lead a guided improvisational dance class. The festival begins at 10:15 a.m.   

Also Saturday, Upstate Rubdown performs at the Wheeler. The acoustic Americana band takes the stage at 7:30 p.m.
