Week In The Arts: Sept. 3 - 9

Welcome to the beginning of another week in the Roaring Fork Valley! This is Week in the Arts, a curated list of upcoming exhibitions and events.

On Tuesday, the Basalt Library Philosophy Club presents the First Annual Bad Idea Festival. The club will look at some of the worst ideas in human history. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

Also Tuesday, the Aspen Art Museum offers “Art Start.” Kids five and under and their caregivers can explore arts and crafts together. The event starts at 10:30 a.m.

The Aspen Institute offers a guided tour of their grounds on Wednesday, which includes a look at the paintings and sculptures of Herbert Bayer. The tour begins at 11 a.m. at the Doerr-Hosier building.

 

Thursday is the Aspen Historical Society’s “Historic Pub Crawl,” a guided tour of Aspen’s watering holes that includes plenty of stories about each establishment’s past. The pub crawl starts at the Red Onion at 3:30 p.m.

Friday through Sunday, the Snowmass Balloon Festival returns. The three days include challenges and races. On Saturday evening, there will be a “Glow Show” and concert at Base Village. All daytime events take place at Snowmass Town Park.

 

A “DIY Stencil Screen Printing” workshop will be held on Saturday at The Project Shop at Carbondale’s SAW studios. Students will learn the basics of screen-printing and will have the chance to create their own stencils. The workshop starts at 11 a.m.

 

Also Saturday, ComedySportz comes to the Temporary for an evening of competitive improv. Doors open at 8 p.m.
