New Programming Starts June 1st On Aspen Public Radio

Dear Listeners,

We are writing to share exciting news about our program schedule. Beginning Saturday, June 1st, we’ll be introducing new shows on Aspen Public Radio, bringing new voices, fresh personalities and diverse perspectives.

We’re updating our schedule to reflect an even greater commitment to bringing you the best in public radio programming.

Here are some highlights, and you can view the complete schedule here.

Weekdays, we are adding an additional half-hour of All Things Considered at 6 p.m. and a second airing of Marketplace at 6:30 p.m.

We present an extra 5 a.m. airing of Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me on Saturdays to give you a jump start on the weekends. We’re extending Weekend Edition by an hour on Saturdays and Sundays, on air until 10 a.m.

Saturdays, at 1 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m., we’ve added It’s Been a Minute. NPR’s Sam Sanders, who earned widespread praise and attention for his coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign, recaps the week’s news, culture and everything else, plus deep dives with artists, writers, journalists and more.

At 2 p.m. Saturdays it is Planet Money and How I Built This (repeat Sundays at 8 p.m.) Planet Money - the economy explained. Imagine you could call up a friend and say, "Meet me at the bar and tell me what's going on with the economy." Now imagine that's actually a fun evening. How I Built This features stories from some of the most successful CEO’s in the world on how they got their business off the ground (or didn't at first) and what happened along the way.

Stay with us until 5 p.m. Saturdays or tune in Sundays at 7 p.m. for a familiar voice: it’s Hidden Brain with NPR’s Shankar Vedantam using science and storytelling to explore human behavior and life’s unseen patterns in his popular Morning Edition and podcast segments. Now he spins those insights into a fascinating weekly program that uncovers our most fundamental behaviors in surprising, compelling ways.

Weekend All Things Considered is on Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m. AND now at 6 p.m. in case you missed it while you were out hiking, skiing, fishing, snowboarding, climbing, camping, biking or rafting (I love the Roaring Fork Valley!)

Sundays at 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. we welcome back On the Media. In today’s saturated, non-stop bombardment of news and information, this show will help you make sense of it all.

Schedule adjustments can take some getting used to, and we want to know what you think. Find the complete schedule here, and be in touch with our Program Mamnager, Daniel Costello, at daniel@aspenpublicradio.org.
