Straight Line Studio, a new gallery that aims to highlight local artists, opens Friday in Snowmass Base Village.

Visual artist Kelly Peters owns the new studio. She says she sees a need for an experimental space in the upvalley area that hosts community events and workshops while featuring emerging artists.

mix6 made its debut in the new Collective building in Snowmass Base Village on Saturday. At the new restaurant, Aspen chef Martin Oswald gives diners the power to assemble their own dish.

Snowmass Ski Area celebrates its 50th anniversary this weekend. Among the festivities is a ski-themed selfie station at the Snowmass Village Mall. It's a product of a group of artists from Anderson Ranch.

A massive illegal pot grow near Rifle got busted up this week and over a dozen Chinese nationals working the crop were arrested. Police think they may be the victims of slave labor.

3,000 pot plants seized in illegal Garfield County grow

And in nearby Battlement Mesa, residents are trying to stave off a wastewater injection well from being put in their backyards.

Related Companies announced Tuesday that it is selling its Base Village assets to East West Partners, the Aspen Skiing Co. and an affiliate of KSL Capital Partners.

After a recession and bankruptcy, a drawn-out approval process and an aborted sale in 2015, Related Colorado has finally dumped Base Village from its portfolio. It has owned the development off and on since 2007. SkiCo owned it before then.
