On Tuesday afternoon, Eagle County Commissioners gave the Tree Farm development in El Jebel the green light to build. This came with plenty of push-back from the public.


Woody Ventures, LLC can start building 340 residential units and over 134,000 square feet of commercial space across Highway 82 from Whole Foods.


Most of the public comment on Tuesday opposed the project.

On Thursday night, Aspen Public Radio, in partnership with GrassRoots TV, The Aspen Times and Aspen Daily News, held a debate with the two candidates for the Eagle County Commissioner seat.

The town of Basalt and Eagle County have had a strained relationship at times, stemming from the county's approval of developments just outside the town limits.

On Tuesday, the Eagle County Commissioners approved the creation of the Tree Farm Metropolitan District.

This past Monday, Eagle County Commissioners voted two to one to approve the Tree Farm project. This ends a long, drawn-out and, frankly, bitter process for the 43-acre development across Highway 82 from Whole Foods.

On Monday night, the Eagle County Commissioners approved a controversial development in the mid-valley. The final vote was 2 to 1.
