Three mountain lion kittens that had been hanging out on the Rio Grande Trail near Carbondale have moved on - in one way or another.
After five days of no kitten activity on state wildlife cameras, Perry Will with Colorado Parks and Wildlife says they plan to reopen the Rio Grande Trail today.
“The assumption is that the female came and moved them or nature took its course, one of the two," he said. "My gut feeling is that they were being cared for.”
Will said public cooperation with the three-week trail closure was essential to the health of the kittens.
