Pitkin County Open Space and Trails will not ask voters for bonding authority in this November’s election.
Based on a recommendation from the county’s bond council, Open Space and Trails board members decided not to ask voters to reaffirm the program’s 20 million dollar debt authority.
The board has not used any money from bonds since the program was last reauthorized by voters in 2006, though executive director Dale Will described it as a safety net for future “holy grail” acquisitions.
Continuation of a mill levy to fund Open Space and Trails will still appear on this November’s ballot.
