On Tuesday, Gov. Hickenlooper appointed Rep. Bob Rankin of Carbondale to the Education Leadership Council, which aims to improve the state’s education system. Rankin wants Colorado’s young people to be better suited for the workplace.
The 25-person council will examine Colorado’s education system holistically, identify goals, then develop a long-term strategy to accomplish them. Rankin will co-chair the council with Education Commissioner, Katy Anthes. Both of their terms end in August of 2019. The council was established in 2011, but became inactive until recently.
