When a CenturyLink fiber-optic cable was cut in Carbondale on Tuesday, many in the valley lost phone and Internet service.
Early Tuesday afternoon, crews from the company Crossfire were laying a natural gas line on County Road 106 for Black Hills Energy. They hit a CenturyLink cable while digging and cut it completely. According to Jason McInnes, the senior area manager with Crossfire, the cable wasn’t marked.
Technicians from CenturyLink worked last night to splice the cable back together. AT&T, Cedar Networks and Verizon all use CenturyLink’s cable. Aspen Valley Hospital was among many whose communication was severely limited.
