On Thursday morning, authorities busted a pot growing operation in the White River National Forest, 16 miles south of Carbondale. The five-acre site contained 2,700 plants; authorities made one arrest.
The Forest Service, Homeland Security, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and other agencies coordinated the bust. The Forest Service released a statement, stating the various agencies have “undergone significant coordination over the past several months to lead to this action.”
This isn’t the first time the area has seen illegal grow operations. In 2013, an massive crop was discovered up the Crystal Valley, near Hayes Creek Falls.
