Meese And Klug Snag Fourth Gold Medal

The Winter X Games are home to a plethora of snowsports: slopestyle skiing, halfpipe, even snow-cross. The X Games' first event, however, is one of its most exciting.

"I’m lovin’ it and I’m pretty stoked", said Henry Meece, four-time gold medalist and snowboarder.

He just completed another gold-medal ride in the Special Olympics Unified Giant Slalom. The event pairs Special Olympians with other winter athletes to race other teams down the mountain.

Each team member gets a shot racing down the course. The pros race each other, then the special olympians race against one another. The combined best times determine who wins.

Meece and his partner, Aspen’s Chris Klug, snagged the top podium spot for the third time in four years. Meese suffered a brain trauma at birth that caused a learning disability. Klug won a bronze medal at the Salt Lake City games in 2002 aftergetting a liver transplant.

Meece says he’s thankful for their partnership and their success.

I’m glad I’m with Chris Klug - and we’re continuing with our gold medals," said Meece.
