Valley Roundup 7-13-15

Welcome to Valley Roundup. I’m Carolyn Sackariason

Joining me this week are Curtis Wackerle, editor of the Aspen Daily News, Randy Essex, editor of the Glenwood Post Independent, Andy Stone, columnist and former editor of the Aspen Times and Michael Miracle, editor of Aspen Sojourner magazine.

Aspen residents continue to take their town back by slowing growth and development in their own grassroots way. It’s anyone’s guess how elected officials will respond.

Meanwhile, the Basalt town government is moving in a direction to allow 75,000 square feet of commercial development on the Pan and Fork site to revitalize old downtown.

In a place where residents are so environmentally forward thinking, why is recycling such a burden?

Transparency around the resignation of a school superintendent in Rifle is non existent. But her $220,000 severance package is.

And from curbing cats in Carbondale to Gonzo politics, Roaring Fork Valley residents have plenty to talk about.

Valley Roundup is a production of Aspen Public Radio news.
