Paula Kerger, president and CEO of PBS, visited the Aspen Ideas Festival last week. PBS is currently trying to advance digital initiatives like NPR is, with a focus on its online presence, as well as implementing more streaming options.
Kerger said it’s more difficult to get eyes on your content.
“The viewer is overwhelmed with an avalanche of viewing experiences,” she said.
Kerger also said the concerns people had over how donations to nonprofit news organizations are unfounded. Recently, NPR was criticized for receiving a donation from the Ploughsares Foundation, a group involved in the nuclear negotiations in Iran.
“The amount of contributions coming in on the major gifts side has been relatively modest,” she said.
