A group of mid-valley residents has had it with Eagle County. Our Valley Our Voice wants Basalt, Willits and El Jebel to join neighboring Pitkin County. Leaving one county to join another, it turns out, is no easy task.

Save the Midvalley is a group in the Basalt area suing Eagle County for approving the Tree Farm development; they argue the approval violates Colorado’s constitution.   

The Roaring Fork Valley Regional Planning Commission agreed to an updated version of the Mid-Valley Area Community Plan Thursday night. This is the document which guides land-use decisions in the part of Eagle County around Basalt.

 When Ace Lane bought the 200-acre property in 1990, his friends scratched their heads. It was a beat-up cattle ranch and, back then, was considered to be far from Aspen.

This past Monday, Eagle County Commissioners voted two to one to approve the Tree Farm project. This ends a long, drawn-out and, frankly, bitter process for the 43-acre development across Highway 82 from Whole Foods.

On Monday night, the Eagle County Commissioners approved a controversial development in the mid-valley. The final vote was 2 to 1.
