Basalt’s police chief is on a mission to make sure his department is meeting the community’s needs. Town Council heard about the beginning phases of that effort earlier this week. Chief Greg Knott is taking input from community members on how Basalt police can improve.
Knott is connecting with local officials, school representatives, and others to get a sense for what their needs are and how his office can better serve Basalt. He says he’s collecting data as well as gathering feedback. The result will be a document outlining a five year program, with a goal to start next year. Knott envisions it as a living document that would reviewed and updated regularly, and hopes to finish it by the end of this year.
