A new exhibit at the Carbondale Clay Center looks at how young ceramic artists make the transition into the world of professional art.
This exhibit, “You’re Still One of Ours,” is the first in a series of collaborations between the Clay Center and Colorado Creative Districts all around the state.
The show presents works from recent graduates of Colorado State University, located in the creative district of Fort Collins.
One of the artists is Qwist Joseph. Since his graduation, he’s taught sculpture and ceramics classes and is now with the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program in New Mexico. He says the show looks at the question, “What do you do with a degree in art?”
"You might not have a studio and make art, and statistics say you won’t, but learning how art can be a part of your life can really change the way you look at the world and better any career," he said.
Qwist is one of 11 former CSU students whose work is on display in “You’re Still One Of Ours.”
The show runs through through Feb. 22.
